The LIFE EWAS project consisted of implementing an ICT waste management solution that would optimize three existing glass collection routes in the city of Seville.

CLIENT CHALLENGE

LIPASAM, the municipal cleaning company with 30 years of service in Seville, is responsible for road cleaning, urban waste collection, and subsequent waste treatment to reduce pollution.

Previous planning for urban solid waste collection was done using predefined routes based on the company’s experience. Unfortunately, this method generated unnecessary costs and wasted resources. Often, a large number of empty containers were collected while others were overflowing, causing increased cleaning costs and frustrated residents.

SOLUTION

Wellness TechGroup introduced the Quamtra Smart Waste Management solution, designed to improve waste collection. The system uses Q sensors installed in 286 containers to measure their fill levels and compiles and analyzes collected data in the Quamtra software platform.

RESULTS

  • LIPASAM switched from 3 static routes to a single dynamic route, leading to significant savings and benefits.
